Fake it 'Till You Make It

My challenge to you comes by way of yet another cliche', that often gets looked down upon - but if done wisely, can work greatly to your advantage.

I want you to fake it till you make it

Here's the thing - people are a certain way because they act a certain way.
People become a certain way by - again, acting a certain way.

Gandhi told us that we have to be the change that we want to see.
DO not be afraid to act out your hopes & dreams until they come to pass.
Do you need confidence? Act confident - not arrogant, but confident.
[Do not make your short comings more obvious by overcompensating.]

On the same front: Do you want respect? Upon meeting new people, act as though you are respected.

IF you are overweight, and you want to lose pounds and get healthy - act healthy.
Get in the gym with the rest of the athletes, and go to town.  Don't think about how out of place you think you look.   Sooner or later - you will BE healthy.

IF you want to improve your grades - act like a person who gets good grades.
Set an academic goal and commit to it.

If your house is dirty - play make believe ... act like a domestic, and get to work.
With effort, a clean house will be the result.

Bottom Line: IF you want different - you must do different.
Plain and simple.
There's no magic solution.
Lasting results don't come the easy way.
The quick fix fades just as quickly as it appears.
Immerse yourself in the mentality of the person you want to be.

In closing, when I say fake it till you make it - I'm not saying be a phony.
If anything, I'm commissioning you to make a genuine effort.

The meaning behind this entry is that, if you change your thoughts, your actions, and your attitude - you can literally change your life.

  1. VERY GOOD POINT KRISTIN! I do this a lot. It's all about perception. I used a trick similar to this in attempt to get my photography business rolling. I'm not getting much business now, but on my Facebook business page, I told all my close friends to comment on the page, asking me when I'd free and what my rates were. The idea was that, since few of those people know me and my friends, they wouldn't suspect that it was a setup. And the more business it LOOKED like I was getting, the more I would actually get. :) GENIUS! So yeah, if you believe something, you can make it happen.

  2. FITYMI, personified.
...and that was still an honest way to create buzz & generate interest around your business, and attract customers. You want to be a successful photographer - you craft the same momentum as a successful photographer.
With hard work, and that same streak of creativity - you'll get there
